LIVING SINGLE, LIVING TOGETHER
COURSE: CORE I Studio
TERM: GSD Fall 2021
INSTRUCTOR: Elle Gerdeman
Living Single, Living Together proposes a duplex built for two families defined by an expanding gridded superstructure and a field of columns. The field of columns are at different moments rendered into solid partitions through the insertion of walls, thus creating three distinct types of threshold spaces stratified along each level of the duplex: columnar array, corridor, and enfilade. These distinct conditions provide different levels of visual and physical access for the inhabitants that operate on a gradation from most accessible and public on the ground floor to most private on the top floor.
